Ike Hoashi

Ike Hoashi of Fernley, Nev., passed away Feb. 4, 2025 at Reno, Nev. 
 He was born Sept. 22, 1953 at Ontario, Ore., to Takeji and Fumiko Hoashi. 
 All his primary  and secondary schooling was in Weiser, Idaho. He graduated from Weiser High School in 1971. Ike lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. 
 He lived in Oregon and Idaho while working for GMAC. After GMAC did downsizing, he became a financial adviser. In 2008 he moved to Nevada, continuing work as a financial adviser. 
 Some of Ike’s favorite things were supporting his children in their sports activities and dance recitals. He also liked fishing and huckleberry picking. Spent many Labor Day weekends in the huckleberry field of the Mt. Adams, Washington area. (Whenever he saw a large berry in whatever was fixed, he claimed to have picked it.)
 Ike is survived by his wife Debra of Fernley, Nev.; daughter Allison (Drew) Hoashi Temple and grandson James of Garden City, Idaho; son Britt of Fernley, Nev.; brother George of Weiser, Idaho; five nieces and nephews, and many great- and great-great- nieces and nephews.
 He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Charlotte Hirata; brother Roy; and nephew Eugene Hirata.
 A service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery on Friday, April 4, at 11 a.m.
