Funds help local causes
All proceeds from Hells Canyon Days events go back into the community, the Cambridge Commercial Club injecting over $16,500 into local causes last year alone. Funds support community projects, event partners, local hardship fund, and scholarships.
This year, the organization presented a total of $6,000 in scholarships to eight eligible applicants.
“Recognizing the need for funding continues well into a student’s educational career, the scholarship has been broadened to include both current high school graduates, and past graduates,” according to the Cambridge Commercial Club’s Megan Warren. “The ability to provide local youth with further education funding is a primary goal of the Cambridge Commercial Club, and the reason behind many locally sponsored events such as the upcoming Hells Canyon Jam on June 4.
“We are a community that values our youth and the enormous impact they have and supporting them in each of their individual endeavors helps to ensure their continued success. Many of them plan to return home after their education is complete, others will settle in new areas...but one thing we can be certain of, they will continue to make a difference wherever they may land. And so, from the bottom of our Commercial Club hearts, we would like to extend our congratulations to all of the recipients. Thank you for being such shining examples to so many more who will follow in your footsteps.”
