Residents are invited to ask questions at Capital for a Day event at Vendome
Idaho Gov. Brad Little will be in Weiser on Friday, Jan. 27 through his “Capital for a Day” program.
The event is to be held at the Vendome Events Center in Weiser, located at 309 State St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with an anticipated break from approximately noon to 1 p.m.
“It is an honor to host my next Capital for a Day in Weiser,” Governor Little said in a statement. “This event will give the good people of Washington County a chance to discuss what’s on their minds when it comes to good government and how we can better serve them.”
Capital for a Day was launched in an effort to connect with residents in rural Idaho, giving them the chance to ask questions or voice concerns about state government.
“It’s something the Governor has done a couple different times and it’s basically an opportunity for people in the public to come and talk to the governor and ask questions about things going on in their community and about what he is doing,” Press Secretary Madison Hardy said last week. “We try to get to rural areas because Idaho is much more than just Boise. We try to do this every month so people can address concerns and talk directly to the governor and members of his administration. That could be department directors or representatives of different agencies and members of his staff.”
The open mic format will allow residents to raise their hands in order to be recognized and pose a question, address a concern, or make a comment.
Joining Little on Friday will be several department heads, including the following:
 • Idaho Department of Financial Management
 Administrator Alex Adams
 • Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Director
 Dave Jeppesen
 • Idaho Department of Fish and Game Regional
 Supervisor Josh Royse
 • Idaho Department of Labor Director Jani Revier
 • Idaho Department of Lands Division Administrator
 Mick Thomas
 • Idaho State Police Lt. Colonel Sheldon Kelley
“By bringing members of the Governor’s Cabinet to a rural town in a different Idaho county every month, residents are able to address their issues directly with the Governor and his administration for an entire day,” according to a press release. “Idahoans are encouraged to ask questions, share their opinions, and seek answers from state agencies.”
