Golfers take to their home course for an SRV match

The Weiser Wolverine varsity golf team hosted a Snake River Valley league tournament on Wednesday, April 6. It was sunny and warm, perfect weather for 9 holes of golf.
The Weiser girl’s team ended the round in second place with a team score of 233. McCall beat out the Wolverines by 28 strokes earning first place with their team score of 205. Payette took third place with 259. The SRV is short on girl golfers so the three teams played with four players instead of five. Homedale, Parma, and Fruitland did not have enough girls to field teams.
Tea Uranga of Homedale took the individual first place with a 43, seven over par. Piper Lamm of McCall scored a 46, 10 over for second place. Lexi Larsen also from McCall had a 47 earning third place.
Wolverine Paige Johnson ended the day with a 53, Jasi Yraguen had a 56, Lucy Hickey had a 58, and Serena Boles rounded out Weiser’s team scoring with a 66.
On the boys side, Homedale earned first place team honors with a 163. Fruitland ended 10 strokes behind Homedale in second place with a 177. McCall only two strokes back from Fruitland scored a 179 and third place. The Wolverine boys finished the day behind the top three teams with a 192.
Carter Williams of Weiser went two under par taking first place individual honors with a 34. Luke Henry from Homedale finished two over with a 38 in second place. McCoy Swallow also from Homedale had a 39 for third place.
Wolverine Devyn Young played well finishing with a 44, only eight strokes over par. Braxton Franek and Luke Sarich each had a 57. With William’s score of 34, Weiser finished with a team score of 192.
The Wolverine girls were scheduled to play in an 18 hole tournament in Buhl on Monday, April 11. Then on Tuesday, April 12 both the girls and boys golfed at Scotch Pines in Payette, no details were available at the time of printing.
