Eight Lady Wolverines make softball All-Conference list

The Lady Wolverines had a season of ups and downs, ending in a season record of 15-16, 11-13 during the regular season, 4-1 in the SRV District Tournament and qualified for a spot in the 3A Idaho State Softball Tournament via some outstanding play during the SRV District Tournament.
Unfortunately, the Lady Wolverines finished 0-2 in the State Tournament.
Although the wins and losses were nearly equal, the numbers do not reflect that nine of the Lady Wolverines’ regular season games were against 4A teams.
The league record for the Wolverines was 6-4, with the losses coming against the Homedale Trojans and the Payette Pirates.
Despite the three previous losses to the Pirates, the Wolverines made their last pairing the one that counted, beating the Pirates 11-7 and securing their spot at the State Tournament in dramatic fashion.
The coaches from the Snake River Valley (SRV) Conference recently met and have made their All-Conference picks, and eight players from the 2021 Lady Wolverine squad received the nod for their performance on the diamond. The complete list of SRV All Conference selections are below:
Player of the year – Sofie Lebow, Payette; rookie of the year – Olivia Asumendi and Dani Sitts, Homedale.
First team all-conference: Pitcher, Brooke Richardson, McCall; catcher – Tobie Noyer, Weiser; first base – Claire Warren, McCall; second base – Kaitlyn Missamore, Homedale; shortstop – Madyson Collingwood, Payette; third base – Darcy Seward, Parma and Jasmine Neely, McCall; outfield – Zayne Hall, Homedale, Kali Branstetter, Weiser, Emily Farrow, Fruitland; utility player – Whitney Cordes, Weiser.
Second team all-conference: Pitcher – Stella Nichols, Parma and Danica Lockett, Weiser; catcher – Kendyl Parsons, Payette; first base – Mecarte Olsen, Weiser; second base – Jaycees Rees, Parma; shortstop – Kenzie Miller, Homedale; third base – Jordan Barrett, Payette; outfield – Kenna Keim, Payette, Monique Brewer, McCall, Hannah Swank, Weiser; utility player – Amaia Aberasturi, Homedale.
All-conference honorable mention: Catcher – Maddie Miller, Homedale and Chloe Becker, Parma, first base – Tyler Jerman, Fruitland and Mikaela Buckley, Parma; second base – Jayda Robinson, Payette and Macy Maloney, Weiser; shortstop – Kenzie Tankersley, McCall; third base – Olivia Miller, Homedale and Ivy Morris, Weiser; outfield – Cashlynn Irish, Parma, Rylee Salveson, Parma, Katie Wakeman, Payette;  utility player – Destiny Hawrth, McCall.
The talent level of the 2021 Lady Wolverine squad was impressive and should continue into the 2022 season, as the Wolverines are a relatively young team, and despite losing two important seniors, Kali Branstetter and Lindsey McConnell, 11 varsity players will return next year.
