Adopt-A-Truck and alley clean-up helps get Weiser spruced up for spring
Well, this last weekend, Cathy had a chance to spend the weekend with her daughters, so it gave me a chance to get some clean-up done around the yard and some small projects around the house. With this nicer weather it is so good to be able to get outside, enjoy the sun, and get things done!
Moving on to other matters, lately I have heard from a few people that they wished they knew what their City utility bill would be each month.
Well, for those of you who would like to pay the same amount on your City utility bill throughout the year, each year during the month of March you can lock in the amount you pay for the next 12 months. This service takes out the bill fluctuations in the summer months for your water use and in the winter for your electricity.
The amount of the bill is based on the average of your past use, plus a small amount to use as a buffer. If you sign up now, the level pay amount will take effect on your May bill. Once you are signed up, the City will automatically make an adjustment each March so you pay an equal amount for the following year. If you would like to take advantage of this service just contact Natasha here at the City. The telephone number is 208-414-1965.
In City business this week, Timbra Long at the Weiser Public Library would like you all to know that there will be a showing of the recently released Disney feature film “Encanto” this Saturday, March 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library. You won’t even have to pay an admission charge! What a deal! So, come join your friends and the fun at the library!
In addition, the street department will be continuing the alley cleanup that was started last fall, but had to be discontinued due to snow and freezing temperatures. So, if there is still yard waste from last year in the alley behind your house, never fear, it will be taken care of within the next few weeks.
For those of you who may be new to Weiser, the City provides alley cleanup as a free service each fall to pick up grass, shrub trimmings, and other yard waste from the alley behind your home. Simply place the waste next to the alley against the property line. (Be sure to leave the alley way clear for the garbage truck!) It is a nice easy way to take care of your yard without making multiple trips to the county transfer site.
In addition to the alley cleanup, the City has a free Adopt-A-Truck program. If you are doing some major cleanup around your place, or have a project that will require many trips to the county transfer site, the City will provide a truck for your convenience. Simply contact the City on when you would like the truck. The City will deliver the truck to your home at the end of the business day, park it, then return the next morning to take the truck to the transfer site. There are some restrictions on what can be taken to the transfer sight in the trucks, so please tell the clerks ahead of time what you intend on having hauled.
Both the alley clean-up and Adopt-A-Truck services are provided at no charge as a way to help you keep Weiser looking good!
Well, that’s it for this week! Weiser is such a great place to live!
