Nearly $50 million awarded for broadband projects to support remote learning, economic development
Boise, Idaho – Governor Brad Little announced today the Idaho Department of Commerce awarded $48.9 million in federal coronavirus relief funds for 102 projects across Idaho that support improved broadband infrastructure, equipment, and services.
Gov. Little launches weekly press briefings on COVID-19 vaccine
Boise, Idaho – Governor Brad Little announced today he is directing the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) to carry out weekly virtual press briefings regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Cambridge School District closed its doors on Monday and Tuesday after only 2½ days in session after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
The school board met on Monday evening and made the decision to reopen school on Wednesday. Staff and students will follow safety protocols that were in place for the first day of school.
Classrooms opened for the new school year on Aug. 25 with an early dismissal on Tuesday at 1 p.m. and two full days on Wednesday and Thursday.
Washington County will stay at red alert level for a third week based on an increase in COVID-19 cases and other factors, officials with Southwest District Health said.
The Weiser Signal American asked the public health agency about specific reasons why the county was bumped up to the red alert level and has remained there.
SWDH officials responded that the county has experienced a moderately high COVID-19 incidence rate of 3.093 daily cases per 10,000 people as of last week.
The Western Idaho Community Action Partnership (WICAP) office in Weiser has been assisting with rent, utility and food for Washington County residents impacted by COVID-19, an official with the nonprofit said.
Carrie Palmer, who is the new director of community services for WICAP, recently updated county commissioners on the programs provided by the social services agency in a seven-county region.
