Citizens on Patrol Christmas dinner will be by carry-out or delivery

Weiser Citizens on Patrol will continue the annual tradition of a free community Christmas dinner however the COVID-19 pandemic has changed some details. 
 On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, the COP members will be offering a free take-out style dinner at the Weiser Senior and Community Center. Families and individuals seeking a homemade holiday meal can reserve dinners before Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. and have the option of either pick-up or delivery between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Weiser School District updates quarantine restrictions

 At the regularly scheduled Weiser school board meeting on Monday, the trustees of the school board passed a proposal to update the current quarantine restrictions. Per information given to the board from Southwest District Health, trustees voted to reduce the amount of days required for quarantine after exposure to a positive case of COVID-19.

Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation year-end giving campaign

 The Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation has changed their fundraiser this year to adapt to the unusual social distancing time of the COVID-19 pandemic. 
 The annual Festival of Trees was cancelled this year due to Idaho’s statewide rollback to Stage Two, the foundation board took the challenge head on and decided to organize a Year-End Giving Campaign, said Foundation Executive Director Casey-Clark Ney.

Weatherizing tips to help keep warm during the colder temperatures

 As the weather grows colder, the concern of keeping a home warm and saving on energy bills increases as well. Weatherizing a home in Idaho is a key precaution to fighting against the lower temperatures. 
 Idaho Power Company and United States Department of Energy are two resources that offer suggestions for effectively weatherizing a home in Idaho and the colder states.
 There are several do-it-yourself actions residents can take to save on energy that the Idaho Power Company recommends. 

Weiser celebrates Christmas in grand fashion

Weiser was the place to be on Saturday evening. It was a fun evening of watching the many decorated cars as they cruised State Street. Santa was able to make an appearance from the North Pole to visit with children and adults as cars full of families drove through the designated course at Weiser High School to get caramel corn, cups of hot chocolate and then the biggest event for children, the chance to visit with Santa and tell him their Christmas wishes. Jasmine Rios, Miss of Idaho helped Santa hand out over 200 pounds of candy.

Weiser Christmas Tour of Lights, Cruise, Fireworks and Living Nativity

A fun and festive night is planned for Saturday, Dec. 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Decorate your cars and take a cruise up State Street to Weiser High School to visit Santa and enjoy treats. Continue your cruise and view the beautifully decorated homes around Weiser. A map located on this website or in the Dec. 9 edition of the Weiser Signal American can help guide you. The Weiser Nazarene Church will have their living Nativity at their church located at 510 E. Indianhead Road. Then for the grand finale go to Memorial Park and enjoy the Christmas fireworks display.

If you have had the chance to drive down East Main Street past Heritage Park (across from Legends) this week you may have noticed the giant “Frosty the Snowman” greeting everyone. 
 We have Michelle Sterman to thank for this. Frosty could be seen in the backyard of Ms. Sterman’s business from the side door of City Hall. Pat Malay of our street department went over to compliment her on the big snowman and she gave it to him to put in the parks. Thank you Michelle for this generous gift to the people of Weiser.

Only grumbling is allowed in the silent period

Dear Editor, 
 The sovereign will of “We the People” (WTP) has been voiced and now will be silent until 2022. In the silent period only grumbling is allowed, however, WTP may plot and plan our biennial political decisions for 2022/24.
 So here is the main impediment to constitutional government; consider the fact that, as a body, our elected members of Congress has betrayed WTP and subverted our Constitution.
